Personal Statement
Aloha! My name is Jack-Eli Tufono. I am a proud member of the class of 2017 at Punahou School in Honolulu, Hawaii. One of the many blessings of growing up in the islands is being able to be outdoors all year round. Sports therefore is a big part of daily life in Hawaii. A respect for family, community, and environment is all woven into life through sports. I am the oldest of 4 and I gladly accept the responsibility to set an example to my younger siblings of what it takes to go to college. But I also aspire to show them how to finish. Finishing is an important collegiate goal. I enjoy other sports including basketball and volleyball. I believe in the Polynesian value of kakou or community. When one succeeds the entire team succeeds. And when one needs help the entire team comes to help. This is a strength I will bring to any team or school I am in.
