The small southern Idaho town I live in starts tackle football in the 5th grade, but I fell in love with team sports when I was only 4 years old. It didn't matter if it was soccer, inline hockey, flag football, basketball, or coach pitch baseball, I wanted to be a part of the action!
As I have gotten older, I have begun focusing on skill development in the sports I truly have a passion for - football and baseball. After the first game of my high school football career, I knew without a doubt that I wanted to pursue collegiate level play. College is definitely in my future, and the opportunity to continue playing one of my favorite sports while earning a degree would create the ultimate experience for me.
I strive hard to excel both on the field and in the classroom. I eat a healthy diet, try to maintain good sleeping habits, and study just as hard as I train. Maintaining a high grade point average is important to me because I do not want my future to be limited. I am willing to accept any challenge thrown at me; my goal is to be the best at what I do, so I want to go up against the best.
I am a natural leader and am honored to have been selected to represent my teams as a captain for 6 years. I like to think I lead by example and that I also inspire my teammates to be their best on and off the field. Coachable is a word that certainly could be used to describe me. I welcome criticism as a tool to expose my weaknesses, which in turn allows me to strengthen those weaknesses.
One of the greatest privileges I've had during my football career was that of dressing in a varsity uniform. As a freshman, I had to push myself harder than ever before to prove I could get the job done at a higher level of play, and I earned my place starting as an inside and outside linebacker and also scored my first varsity touchdown as a running back. Being able to achieve these milestones fueled my desire to play football beyond high school.
Outside of my athletics and academics, I volunteer whenever possible to help with youth sports teams and camps. The younger players will someday be in my shoes, and I enjoy being a part of developing their skill sets and work ethic. I am also employed as a referee and umpire during football and baseball seasons and uphold part-time employment in the off seasons as well.
The ultimate objective I have is to attend a college that allows me to balance academics and athletics in such a way that I will be successful at both. I want to compete at the highest level possible as an outstanding athlete and also be an exemplary student.
