Personal Statement

I have multiple collegiate goals and aspirations. Achieving academic goals are extremely important to me, in addition to achieving athletic goals. Although they are not the same in what needs to be done, the manner in which I plan to achieve them is very much the same. I aspire to excel in all aspects of my academic and athletic career while in college. In order to reach my best personal excellence, I intend to follow a plan that will lead me in the direction of my personal success. I can honestly say that my most important goal and aspiration for myself is to do whatever is necessary to achieve my own personal greatness.

First and foremost, I have every intention of tackling every task put in front of me with 100% vigor and heart. I will always keep in mind that nothing comes easily and that hard work and determination lead to excellent results. If I do not give my all, I will never know what my full potential may have been. With this in mind, I am determined to make sure my body, mind and heart are at their peak as I encounter all aspects of my college career. This makes me a great candidate for any team because my head and heart are always in right place. I have learned the value of hard work, the importance of respect and dignity, and the ability maintain focus, while always pushing myself to be the best person I can be.

Secondly, I make a great candidate because I am aware that one cannot achieve his own best self unless they are a part of a team that drives him there. In sports, as well as in academics, no one person stands and succeeds alone. I am grateful for the support and guidance I receive from coaches, professors, teammates and peers. I understand the importance and value of teamwork, and knowing that the success of any team lies within how hard and how well the team works together as a unit. I am an ultimate team player and always look outside of myself for help, guidance or support from my teammates. As much as I can learn and benefit from others, I also bring to the table all of my knowledge, experience and support to offer my team when they need it. As an experienced and confident athlete and student, I have a lot to offer.

Lastly, I feel that I am different from other recruits because at my age, I have already accomplished things most athletes cannot do. For example, at 15 years old, I am able to dunk a basketball. I am also a 3 sport athlete, which I know is not very common.  I respect and appreciate  the value of hard work and constantly remind myself how blessed I am to have been given any opportunity to be a part of a team. I will never take for granted the position I am in and will always do my best to honor and respect that opportunity. I take on everything that I can because I have been blessed with so many opportunities to learn, play and succeed. Being a 3 sport athlete, I am very versatile and flexible, always moving and changing from one position or sport to another. Having played 3 sports has taught me how to balance sports, academics and social life. It has also taught me how to be organized, flexible, disciplined and maintain focus and drive.

In closing, I believe I am an excellent candidate because I know I have been given great opportunities, and I do not take them for granted. With that, my intentions are to always honor those blessings, give the very best of myself and know that I can always be a better "me". I am ready and eager to learn, to grow and to share what I have to offer my school.
