My name is John Kaplangil. I live in River Grove, Illinois. I have learned very quickly that it takes more than just skill on the field to be a great athlete. You have to have great work ethic, unbelievable toughness, respect for the game, for yourself, for your teammates and coaches, and you have to be willing to put forth that same effort in the classroom. I am usually an A-B student and had a GPA of 3.8 freshman year, but with online school I have struggled to keep this the same. So my GPA has dropped significantly which I am so ashamed of. The name student- athlete is self-explanatory. Student comes before athlete. So I know that it is more important to be an even better student than an athlete as football will not last forever. I know that I am both athletically and academically strong which gives me more motivation to fulfill my dreams.
I have played many positions such as center and linebacker, but my main positions are tight end and defensive end. I have played on all levels at my school.
Just like every other motivated football player, my dream is to play football at the next level. I know that I have the potential and the work ethic, but I would like football to do more for me than just make my dream come true. I want to get a quality education and I would like to use my athletic ability and my academic success to help me get there. The reason I would like a quality education is that it is something that no one can ever take away from me. If I were ever to get injured and could never play another down of football, I would still have the education that will allow me to support myself and my family.
Now you know a little bit about me as an athlete, student, and person. Thank you for your time and thought.
