Personal Statement
Dear Prospective Coach,
My name is Brian Borowski and I am pursuing a competitive university environment that allows me to thrive both academically and athletically. First and foremost, my long-term academic goal is to attain a degree in business management. I am highly interested in a school that offers me the tools and curriculum I need to succeed in my post-collegiate professional career.
While attaining my degree, I would love to play college football at the highest level. My leadership skills, persistent work ethic, and motivation will help me achieve my athletic goals while maintaining consistent success off the field as well. My love for the game of football began at a very young age, and was solidified when I began playing at eleven years old. Soon within my first year of playing, I knew the game was for me!
The game of football has taught me the importance of heart, perseverance, and dedication. These skills have given me the mental and physical strength to pursue my goals in life both on and off the field. I believe setting goals in life, pursuing them and then achieving them, is the most important lesson football has taught me.
When I entered high school, I set two core goals: maintain the highest standards in the classroom and earn the right to play college football. Since that time I have made great strides in both categories. Specifically to my athletic goals, I have made great improvements, especially since the end of my sophomore season. In addition to my varsity team practices and workouts, I am grateful to be working with a personal football coach on a weekly basis. These football specific sessions have improved my skill level, power, and speed; ultimately improving my performance as a Defensive Lineman and Tight End.
Working hard every day to improve my skills is most important to me so I can help my team on the field both offensively and defensively. I also help my team by striving to lead by example. I coordinate extra workouts and practices for my teammates in order to cultivate our team’s performance and chemistry. I believe that putting forth 110% as teammates will pay off on the field next season. Football has taught me the true meaning of teamwork, and I will make sure my coaches and teammates can count on me no matter what.
I will be attending numerous college football camps this summer to continue to absorb as much knowledge of the game I possibly can. On top of that, working with my varsity coaches and college coaches allows me to gain as much technique as I can to improve my abilities as a defensive end and tight end. Being coachable is also one of the qualities that I value the most.
This June I attended the Football University (FBU) camp at Benedictine University, where I was selected to attend the “invite only” FBU Top Gun camp in South Carolina in July. One of things I took away from the FBU camp was Coach Anthony Herron saying, “Practice makes permanent.” This really inspires me to push harder and carry this throughout my life, on and off the field. I will be increasing the intensity of my workouts in the coming months and I look forward to delivering an explosive season for my team.
I want to thank you very much in advance for your consideration. I look forward to hearing from you and for the opportunity to join your program. Please feel free to contact me with any questions.
Thanks again,
Brian Borowski
