Personal Statement

Hi!  I am Adam Cooke, the youngest of six children. My Dad is a firefighter/paramedic in Woodstock, and he teaches technical rescue for IFSI at the University of IL.  My mom is an Assistant Principal and Secondary Curriculum Director at Harvard High School, and she served as adjunct faculty for Aurora University and George Williams College for six years and Rockford University for three.  They both played sports growing up and through high school.  My Dad played basketball in college. All five of my siblings played sports. I've been around sports my whole life - literally, so it was a given that I would play as well.  I played local travel basketball starting in fifth grade, and through junior high.  I played baseball every summer for our in-house league as well as on the travel team.  I played one year of 16U travel baseball.  As a Freshman, I played Sophomore level basketball; as a Sophomore, I played Varsity basketball.  I added Varsity golf in the fall of 2022 after thinking long and hard about football and considered even playing both sports that fall.  I started with football in the spring of 23, doing all of the camps, workouts and training.  I played Varsity basketball and varsity baseball junior year as well.  I work hard at everything I do - grades, sports, work.  I have been on the Honor Roll every semester of junior high and high school, including three semesters so far of High Honors, and I take Honors and Dual Credit classes.  I've learned a lot about working hard and working with others throughout all of the sports I have been and am involved with as well as the classes I've taken and am taking. I've also learned a lot about adversity.  We struggle in most sports at our school in the win column. We have to never stop working hard and trying to improve. I am really looking forward to my senior year in all three of my sports, my classes and figuring out what comes next.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
