Personal Statement
Being recognized by the Apollo Conference as the only underclassman named All-Conference 1st team my junior year has been a highlight of my football career so far. However, I feel that being called up to varsity as a sophomore due to a teammates injury and earning my place as a starter had the greatest impact on me as a student athlete. That experience taught me there is no room for fear and self-doubt when your team needs you to step up. I learned to dig deep within myself, to never give up, and to overcome adversity.
I began life in foster care with a list of basic skills I would never be able to accomplish. Thankfully, I was adopted into a family with a mom who was determined to help me prove that list false. The structure and discipline of sports did just that. My success in football taught me that the only thing that can determine my future is my commitment and work ethic. I have also learned that the same is true for the classroom. Overcoming adversity has built in me a strong character, work ethic, leadership skills, and has made me mentally tough. I am looking for a program that will be a good fit for me academically and athletically where I can contribute and continue to grow. As a three-sport athlete I believe I have what it takes to be a strong teammate and leader on your team!
