Personal Statement
I started playing football in eighth grade for a club team near Houston, TX. At the beginning of my freshman year I played at University High School. I started at both offensive & defensive tackle for the freshman team, which only lost 1 game. Sophomore year, I started on varsity at defensive tackle. Junior year I started on varsity at both offensive and defensive tackle, and received honorable mention all conference for offensive line. My senior year I started offensive and defensive tackle. We ended the season 10-1, our only loss coming in the second round of playoffs, and we ranked #4 in the state's 5A division. I was named first team all-conference for both offensive and defensive line, as well as number one all-area for offense and honorable mention for defense.
I think that my best football years are ahead of me, since I have only been playing a few years and I still have room for great improvement. My bench is low because I broke my hand my junior year and couldn't lift for a long time, but I am in good shape. On defense I am constantly double-teamed, but hold my ground. I want to play college ball for a coach who believes, like I do, that I have great football potential. I am eager to play better and harder in these upcoming years, and hope to take my game to the next level.
School has been my struggle for the last few years since my parents divorced. My GPA is lower than it should be, however, I recognize this issue, and have made significant efforts to give my all, not only on the field, but in the classroom as well. I feel like I'm on the right track now and my grades are definitely improving.
