Personal Statement
From the time I started playing tackle football in kindergarten, I played many different positions from center to linebacker to quarterback, but my first love was being a quarterback. When I was in 4th grade my coach told me that I would never be a QB. I set out to prove him wrong and in the process quarterbacked not only my elementary and junior high teams, but was a the 3-year starting QB for Football University’s Team Illinois, and for the freshman and junior varsity teams at my high school, Sacred Heart-Griffin. I even started varsity as a sophomore…as an outside linebacker and all special teams. That was a shock for me because I had never really done much in those positions. Yes, in varsity games I did go in as the 2nd string QB, but most of my time of the field was spent as OLB and on special teams. I’ve been told that in addition to this, I’ll see looks at WR, RB, and ILB this fall. That’s when I came to realize something important. I love the game of football. Yes, I love being a quarterback and I’m very good at it, but being part of the team and having an impact is more important than playing a specific position. I’m fortunate that I have the athletic ability to play a number of positions. No matter what position I play, I will make a difference.
