Personal Statement
My love for football has manifested itself into a commitment to do whatever it takes, as long as it takes, to be the best that I can be in the sport. Since November of 2020, I have gained approximately 35 pounds by managing my diet and working the hardest in the weight room. As a result, I have increased my bench from 175 LBS. to 225 LBS., my hang clean from 165 LBS. to 200 LBS., and my squat max from 275 LBS. to 405 LBS. In addition to not missing a day in the weight room, I make it to every single event my coaches schedule. This includes practices, agility workouts, position meetings, and leadership meetings. I am dedicated to do whatever it takes to be a successful football player.
Being a successful football player is more than just being in the weight room and making every scheduled event. It also means maintaining grades that keep me eligible to play. I have one of the highest GPA’s on the football team with a 4.25 out of 4.33. Because I take dual-credit and advanced placement classes, my GPA is weighted differently than general education classes. My classes are more rigorous and require more out-of-class time to complete homework and prepare for quizzes and exams. The same work ethic I practice in the weight room, I practice with my schoolwork. As a result, my teammates can depend on me to do my part for the team.
As my junior year of school comes to an end, I am beginning to explore what is next for me, as far as athletic and academic goals are concerned. I want to continue to make massive gains in the weight room. Before next season, I would like to increase my hang clean to at least to 250 LBS., my squat to over 500 LBS., and my bench to 275 LBS. I am also hoping that I can maintain my average healthy weight gain of 7 LBS. per month. Finally, I am beginning to investigate different career options that are available. I am currently exploring various careers in Engineering. Cyber Security and Information Security Analyst are also appealing. As my senior year approaches, I plan to have a better idea of the career I would like to pursue, where I will demonstrate the same level of dedication and commitment that I have shown both to football and high school.
Saying you are dedicated is one thing. Demonstrating your commitment is another. I have made tremendous gains in the weight room. My GPA is one of the highest on the football team. I am disciplined with how I spend my time so that, as a result, I am successful in the classroom and on the field. Any coach of mine you talk to will tell you I am the hardest worker. Any teacher of mine you talk to will tell you I am a great student. Hard work, discipline, integrity, and dedication is what I bring to my team. It is also what I will bring to any endeavors in my future.
