Personal Statement
Dear Prospective Coach:
Let me introduce myself. My name is Caleb Swalla and I am a four-sport athlete (football, wrestling, track, and baseball) at Earlham Community Schools in Earlham Iowa. I started my football career when I was in the second grade and have loved every minute of the game since. I am a 6'1" 180 lb. running back and linebacker. I have been a starter on varsity for three years. I have lead the team in tackles two seasons in a row, and at the end of my junior regular season, I was in second place in the state of Iowa all classes for rushing with a total of 1,669, compiling 2,448 rushing yards so far my HS school career. Listed below are the team, district, and state awards I've achieved so far.
Team Awards:
Offensive MVP - JV - Freshman and sophomore season
MVP & Offensive MVP - Junior season
Team Captain - Junior season
All-District Awards:
1st Team - Running Back as a junior
All-State Awards:
Running back as a Junior
Not only have I been successful with football, but I have also been successful with wrestling, which is my next favorite sport and track. In wrestling, I have been on the varsity lineup since my freshman year, two-time state qualifier, placing 7th at 160 lbs. my junior year. HS wrestling record is 123 - 27.
Track I have qualified for the state meet as a freshman in two events placing 5th in the shuttle hurdle relay and as sophomore three events placing 3rd in the 4x800 relay.
Not only am I competitive in high school sports, but I'm an avid outdoorsman, hunting for big bucks with a bow or shotgun, walking fields looking for upland birds and fishing. In the spring you can find me and my dad and little brother competing as to who can find the biggest deer shed or the most! I have a very outgoing personality, I can get along with anyone. I love my family, and I treat others how I would want to be treated.
A leader on and off the field.
Thank you for taking the time to read my statement and I hope to hear from you soon.
