"I don't stop when I'm tired, I stop when I'm done." - David Goggins.
I stand by this quote day in and day out. When presented with a challenge, I won't shy away. I won't even hesitate to seize the opportunity to see what I can do. On the field, I may be a little undersized for a defensive lineman, but I can toss around guys who are much bigger than me. The reason: I don't stop. They may get fatigued and I'll capitalize on it. I will continue to push myself until I collapse if I need to.
My favorite NFL player is Aaron Donald. I often like to compare myself to him. He is consistently one of the best defenders in the league despite being severely undersized. He can do this because he is a workaholic. He has dedicated his life to bettering himself, much like myself.
My high school football 2020 team is also full of non-quitters like myself. We won the 3A state title in Iowa and were underdogs throughout our entire playoff run. We were supposed to be out in the second round of playoffs. The strongest part of our team was by far our defense. We held multiple teams with scoring threats to season lows in point totals. Our defense, of course, started upfront with me and my two teammates/brothers on the line of scrimmage. The state championship has been by far the best athletic moment of my life.
Now I'm really not as hardcore all the time as the first part of this personal statement may make me seem. I can have a soft side when I need to as well. It's all about having levels and maintaining a balance ya know? At home, I enjoy playing my guitar and cello, and playing with my dogs. I enjoy listening to just about any genre of music, except country (sorry), but rap and classic rock are my favorite. I also take time every now and then to play video games with friends.
Lastly, I strongly believe I can find a place at any college, at any level, playing the sport I am most passionate about. I'd appreciate it if you'd just take a quick look through my profile (if you haven't already), and see if I've got a potential spot on your team. Thank you for considering.
