I am a 6'0 defensive back/special teams guy from Okoboji,IA. I started on defense my freshman year and earned second team All-District. My sophomore and junior years I continued starting on defense and earned first team All-District for both years. During my senior season I started at safety and earned All State defensive back and helped our team win the Class 2A Championship title. Our team had the opportunity to play in the Iowa State Class 2A championship game where we earned the runner-up title during our 2011 season.
I have been part of a team whose philosophy is "Build for Others." What this means to me is that I encourage my teammates in the weight room, on and off the field, and lead by example. I take opportunities to help my community and serve wherever I can share my talents. I was a player-coach at our youth camps this past summer, and I helped teammates with assignments and test preparation before school. I participated in book study groups with leadership teams to continue to learn the aspects of being an effective leader. Another teammate and I did a huge service project during the 2012"J" term at our school called "Shoes for Africa." We worked with our school and community to collect over 800 pairs of shoes for Africa. We first had the shoes sent to a local adult center where adults with special needs organized the shoes. They were then sent on to Africa to provide children and families with new or near new shoes. This year, I am again participating in the leadership class for J-term and will be attending Joplin, MO where we will help them with rebuilding projects following the devastating tornado that hit there town. I served as a team leader for the 2012-2013 year. I tried to be a strong encourager, leader, and example for the underclassman.
My goal is to receive a quality education and be able to succeed in the real world after football is over. I want more than anything to compete at the collegiate level for a team with a strong foundation, successful program, and have superior coaches who can help me to reach my greatest level of athletic success. My teammates and coaches have used the following words to describe me: dedicated, hard-hitter, reliable, great work ethic, and quiet confidence. My goal is to play at the collegiate level where I can use my skills, determination, and strong work ethic to help me be successful both on and off the field.
