I would like to continue my football career at the collegiate level because I enjoy the game, competition and being part of a team. I always strive to help out the team in whatever way I can. Last year I played wide receiver and defensive back. This year I was moved to the quarterback position where I played well. I received the following honors for football this year:
-All League QB- First Team
-Independence Daily Reporter All Area QB- Honorable Mention
-Wichita Eagle All State 3A QB- Honorable Mention
-Topeka Capital Journal All State 3A QB- Honorable Mention
-Sports in Kansas Top 100 Seniors- Honorable Mention
-Voted Most Valuable Offensive Back by my football team
I have good relationships with my teammates and my coaches. This summer I dedicated extra time to morning workouts by going in before the rest of the team to spend one-on-one time with my coach as I prepared to be the QB this season. I am a well rounded athlete. Not only have I played different positions on the football team, but I also start for the varsity basketball team and do well in track with sprinting and javelin.
I strive to always do my best in everything I do whether it be athletics, academics or my job. Academically, I have excelled in the classroom. I have been on the Honor Roll all four years of high school and was inducted into the National Honor Society as a junior. I have also received an Academic Medal the last 3 years at my school's academic banquet. Last year, I was on the Wilson County Classic Basketball All-Academic team, and I expect to receive this honor this year as well. I have a 3.9 GPA that includes 24 college credit hours. When I graduate in May, I will have completed 30 college credit hours.
I am involved in many other activities outside of football, so I have learned that I have to manage my time well. I am involved in Student Council where I am serving as the treasurer. Last year, I was the Junior Class President and my sophomore year I was the Reporter for the Spanish Club. I also participate in Circle of Friends which is an organization in my school that paired me with a special needs buddy. I eat lunch with her every Wednesday and am able to go with her to all of her Special Olympics competitions. I am also part of PEACE and BEE the Change which are anti-bullying initiatives. Through these programs, I promote positive behavior among my peers and educate middle school and elementary school students on how to be respectful towards their peers. I also make time on weekends and in the summer to work at the family ranch with my dad and grandfather.
I feel that I am a hard working, well rounded person that would make a positive contribution to a collegiate football team. Thank you for your consideration.
