Personal Statement


I am a 5'10" Junior Quarterback who has played Slot Receiver and Kick Off Return from Grant Parish, Louisiana while maintaining a 3.5 GPA. I was a starter on the high school varsity team for the last 2 years and was nominated to be one of the captains for my upcoming senior year. I understand many boys dream and talk about playing at the next level, as I do myself. The thing that separates me from other boys is that I am willing to put in more hours of hard work than any other boy I have met. The last two years I have gotten up at 4 a.m. and have worked out 2 hours with personal trainers before going to school. Then I would continue my training an additional hour after football practice. I am not a seasonal athlete, where I only train during Spring Training. I love the game so much and have such a desire to be the best; I give my heart all 12 months of the year. I pray that I get the chance to prove my abilities and my love for the game at a college that has high academics as well as a great football program. I would love to play at the highest football level D1, but if I cannot start there I know my hard work, perseverance, love for the game, and dedication will eventually allow me to compete one day at the highest level. I don't believe in just talking about how good the team is, I believe in letting people see how good the team is by our performance. I know if I were on a good team and had the opportunity, that team and I could make an incredible impact. I grew up understanding that nothing is given to you, if you want it you have to work and earn it. When I get the opportunity I plan on doing just that, as I have always done. One last commitment that I make is that a coach doesn't have to worry about me getting into trouble because I spend almost all of my time in class, studying, or working out.

Just recently Micah attended a Nike SPARQ (speed, power, agility, reaction, quickness) Combine at the Dallas Cowboy Stadium in Arlington, Tx., on March 24, 2012. At the Nike SPARQ Combine, Micah Dickens made an impressive appearance scoring 75.33 on his SPARQ rating which consist of 4 football specific test: 40 yard dash, Power Medicine Ball Toss, 5-10-5 pro shuttle and the vertical jump. When asked what he accredited his success to he says, “First and foremost God, who gives me strength and energy to put in the work and train. After two years of working hard, at least 5 days per week, and focusing in on proper nutrition, some of my hard work is paying off. I get up at 4a.m. to start my day and training, and my nights don’t end until 9:30-10:00p.m. The greatest difference I have seen in my training is when I engaged Coach Brad with Prichard Performance. I really believe Prichard Performance changed my way of approaching my training as well as my life. Coach Brad took me to the next level and is an incredible Performance Coach. I really love the game of football. I am working hard and looking forward to playing at the next level.” TOP 11% Micah competed not only against top athletes at the Dallas Nike SPARQ Combine, but also in the following states: Honolulu, Hawaii – Out of a total of 453 boys, Micah’s SPARQ score placed him in the top 39. Philadelphia – Out of a total 1,158 high school football players, based on Micah’s score he placed in the top 81. Miami – Out of 1,171 athletes, Micah’s score placed him in the top 48. Orlando – Out of a total of 1,398, his score placed him in the top 147. Houston – Out of a total of 958 athletes, Micah’s score placed him in the top 130. Mobile, Alabama – Out of a total of 1,302 athletes , his score placed him in the top 97. Charlotte – Out of a total of 1,335 high school athletes, his score placed him in the top 101. Atlanta – Out of a total of 1,450 athletes, his score placed him in the top 173. Ohio – Out of a total of 1,238 athletes, his score placed him in the top 178. Dallas – Out of a total of 1,241 athletes, his score placed him in the top 221. Long Beach – Out of a total of 1,204 athletes, his score placed him in the top 120. Out of these Nike SPARQ Combines, a total of 12,998 high school football players, Micah placed in the top 11%. And out of 105 QB's at the Dallas Nike SPARQ Combine, Micah placed 15th overall out of the QB's. When asked if he was pleased with his score said, “I’m thankful for my score, but I could have done better. What I learned from this combine, is that I have a lot of work to do. I am nowhere close to where I want to be.” When Nike SPARQ Performance Coach Brad Prichard was asked about Micah and his performance, he said, “I thought Micah did well at the Nike SPARQ Combine, there is always room for improvement with any athlete, but one thing I know about Micah is that this will drive him to push even harder to succeed .   • Brad Prichard, Certified Nike SPARQ Trainer, 337-378-2611 My name is Brad Prichard, Certified Nike SPARQ Trainer, and Founder of Prichard Performance a Strength and Conditioning company created to help coaches and athletes maximize their potential in sport and in life. I have been training athletes for over 10 years. I have been fortunate enough to work with some elite level high school athletes who have dreams and goals of playing at the next level. I am blessed to be able to train and mentor these young guys to help them maximize their true potential on and off the field. One particular athlete that I have been blessed to work with these past three months is Micah Dickens. Micah is a 5’10” 175lbs. Junior at Grant High School located in Louisiana. Micah is an overall outstanding athlete that is being used at several positions on the field by his team. Not only is he an outstanding high school football player, but he excels in the classroom as well, finishing the school year with a 3.5 GPA. Micah and I have been training together since March 5, 2012. I realized Micah’s work ethic, discipline and his drive to succeed at the sport of football from the first training session. Waking up at 4:30 am to train before school starts says a lot about this kid. He is a goal driven young man who has the dedication to be the best he can be at the game of football. Micah is a humble person, always trying to make his teammates better on and off the field. The first training session with Micah, I performed an authorized Nike Football SPARQ Rating test. The SPARQ Rating consists of four tests, the 40 yard dash, the pro agility shuttle, kneeling power ball toss, and the vertical jump. Based on his numbers from the tests, his SPARQ Rating was a 64.35. Micah and I realized from that point that we needed to develop a training program that was going to get him more powerful and explosive. We came up with a goal to better his score ten points for the Nike Football SPARQ Combine to be held at Cowboy Stadium in Dallas, Texas on March 24, 2012. We trained intensely for several weeks leading up to the combine. Micah’s hard work and intense focus paid off at Cowboy Stadium. His SPARQ Rating increased to a 75.33, an increase of over ten points. This score placed him in the top 11% of all SPARQ Rated athletes. Excited about his SPARQ Rating score increase, Micah was still not satisfied. His drive and pursuit of excellence had him wanting to get better and better. For the next several weeks we cranked up the intensity of the workouts. The 4:30 a.m. workouts became more grueling, focusing in on his form, technique and his mechanics on all of his movements. We developed a training program that got him more explosive and powerful. Micah’s training program that he has been performing and his hard work that he has put into it has paid off. Here recently I held a Nike SPARQ Rating Day for Micah. His dedication, hard work and relentless pursuit of excellence paid off once again. His SPARQ rating has increased to a 94.32. Listed are his scores in detail from the SPARQ Rating Day: • 40 yard dash – 4.65 seconds • Kneeling Powerball Toss – 36.5 feet • Vertical Jump – 33 inches • 5-10-5 Pro Agility Shuttle – 4.28 seconds Micah is very excited about his increase in his Nike SPARQ Rating. And I’m very excited with his progress thus far. But with Micah’s work ethic, his will and with his drive to succeed, Micah will be taking his training up a notch so he can be successful at reaching his goal of playing at the college level. I truly believe that Micah is maximizing his potential as a football player. His work ethic, drive, determination, his will and his relentless pursuit of excellence will be an outstanding fit for any college football program.
