Personal Statement
Being able to play on the varsity team at my school, Isidore Newman, is one of the big highlights of my life. This experience allowed me to get an early taste at true competition. It has told me talent only goes so far, and how excessive hard work to wear it becomes an obsession is a skill needed to be successful in life. I am a good candidate because i've taken a leadership role and I'm only a tenth grader. I chose to instead of only competing with my fellow running backs and teammates to mentoring them and have us learn together as a team because there is no one star on a team. The team is the star itself.
My aspirations for college is to go and play college football. I want to train myself with the best to prove I belong. I will not shy away from being the underdog in situations because everyone loves a good underdog. Coming from Isidore Newman, a school which has produced the Mannnings and Odell Beckham, I know I'm training myself with high expectation to be the next Newman-produced star. That is what motivates me to get up and play football, to be the best.
I am different from other running back recruits because I am shorter than the average running back. I was supposed to be 6'3, but something occurred which was beyond my control and stunted my height growth. Even though I pray for a couple more inches I do not let my height stop me from being dominant at what I do. Nothing is impossible if you believe it and I do not see my height as a problem it is what makes me myself. I would not be the same if I was any different than I am now. My personality is different as well, I do not like to be flashy and talk trash I am more of a silent guy who listens well and does what he needs to do in order to win the game. I have no and will not have any off the field issues because it is how I was raised and how I like to live my life.
I am a Student Athlete and I pride myself with my grades. Not a lot of football recruits can say they have a 3.6 GPA or have taken honors and AP courses in High School. Academics are as important if not more important in my household. I wish to continue doing all of these things for a college one day, it is my goal.
