Personal Statement
My name is William Poindexter and I am a senior at Southwood High school in Shreveport, LA. I live with my parents and older brother who attends Louisiana State University Shreveport. I have played the Center position since 7th grade. I played with a Spar league in 3rd grade, but 7th grade was where I fell in love with the game. Ever since 7th grade I have been the starting Center for Junior High and High school.
Currently, I have a 3.3 grade point average but working everyday to bring it up even higher before graduating next year. I know academics is very important. After high school I plan on attending college but haven’t quite decided what my major will be. I am hoping to pursue college athletics and continue to be a positive example to others.
I plan to major in Exercise Science so that one day I will have the opportunity to help athletes with injuries get back in the game. I had a painful injury my sophomore year but thankfully I am completely healed. I had a great physical therapist help me in my recover and I am 100 percent healed. This lead me to learn my passion in life to help others to get back even when everyone counts them out.
Senior year I played Center but also learned plays and played on the Defensive line and Punt team.
