I started playing football in the 7th grade, primary as a tight end. After my dad told me an interesting story from his junior high football days, I asked him to show me how to deep snap. Although I loved it immediately, I knew that it was going to take many snaps and further instruction to get better at the skill and offer my team another dimension of scoring. Working out constantly with our kicker, we became the only junior high team in the region to kick extra points and field goals with success. I had learned the value of special teams at that point and did everything I could to be the best I could be. The perspiration, dedication and endless days, weeks and months on the practice field allowed me to earn the starting snapper job as a high school freshman and enable me to letter at the varsity level for all four years. I fully understand my role in the punt and field goal operation and love having the ball in my hands to start the play.
My perseverance with long snapping has also allowed me to become a better student. There are always going to be concepts I don't fully understand, but given the right resources, I can learn anything I want if I put my mind to it. My academic goals in college are going to revolve around math and science, maybe also teaching. I truly love deep snapping and want to continue to do it at the college level. By working out nearly year round, I am able to refine my mechanics and technique to be the absolute best I can be. As I have a high work ethic level, I hold my teammates to that level as well to be the best possible team and succeed. I am confident in my football abilities and know that I can compete at the college football level.
