Personal Statement

I am 6'4", 295 lbs. immovable object referred to by many of my teammates as the "animal". What I lack in speed I more than make up for in determination. I don't give up on the play until the whistle blows, where ever the ball is I am there sometimes to make the play or right after the guy has hit the ground, I come to play with the swim move to get where I need to be quicker, I wear a mast of black which shows my alter ego who I am on the field not the nice guy whose friends with everyone and does his work, the mask is a symbol of my play, that I'm coming out to make the play and will take out anyone whose in my way. It represents my love for the game that I'm a different person when I'm out there. I work hard to accomplish my goals, to make starting varsity, to getting my first sack of the season, to jump on the ball when it pops out, I work hard in practice to get better, I am not a captain but I am still a leader on the defense getting guys pumped up saying it only takes one play, I have my team's back no matter what the situation, team always come first over personal accomplishments, we play as one, as one unit, I will cheer for my team when I can't play in a game for having ones back, I will not quit when the other team is up in points, I will not quit when there's 1.5 seconds left in the game, I will not quit when I get knocked down and am banged up, I will not quit when someone says it's over, it's never over. I give 110% on the field until the end, I WILL NOT QUIT that is not who I am as a player or a person. I want to go to school in New England close to home or a little past there but I need to see the world to grow as a person. I can't stay in one place for my whole life. I need to see what is out there for myself. The states I am thinking about are Maine, New Hampshire, Mass, New York, New Jersey, Rhode Island or Pennsylvania, so I can visit my family but far enough away so I can live my life on my own. The size of the school will not bother me. Yes I go to a small school, but I can handle a school with a lot of people. I would love to play at a division one school, it's one of my goals. I wouldn't mind going to a division two or three school, but my dream is to play division one. I am interested in business. I want to go to a school with a good business program. I am the second of two children getting ready to start college, so I am in need of financial aid and any college offering financial aid or scholarships would be extremely helpful. My desired major is business management/sports management so I can have a career in a field that I enjoy, which is sports. My goals as a freshmen in college would be to continue to work hard to accomplish what I have set for myself, to be ready for when the team needs me and to give encouragement to my team when we are down. To get them pumped that the game is not over, it takes one play to change the game. I am a player who will not quit on my team. Like I said, we are one unit, we work together, you cannot WIN ANYTHING if you don not play as a TEAM! I am someone who will keep my goals alive. I ignore the people who tell me I can't do it, I don't quit on myself or on my life. In conclusion, I thank you for giving me an opportunity to tell you about myself and any consideration you may give is greatly appreciated. Sincerely, Zachary Barter
