Personal Statement
I feel my strongest attribute is poise under pressure. I am a focused, determined, and dedicated student-athlete who understands hard work is the key to success. I am an elite level athlete in two sports. In basketball, I am a High School Provincial All-Star;and have been a member of the ManitobaProvincial Basketball team for the past 3 summers. In football, I have played quarterback for most or my career, capturing the Game MVP of the Provincial Bantam Championship and Team MVP awards in 2012. I had an unusual ratio of 5 interceptions vs. 35 touchdown passes that year, at level where teams predominantly run the ball. In my freshman year playing Varsity football in High School, I was moved to a wide receiver position and was named finalist for the High Schools League Rookie of the year award. Last season was disappointing as I sustained a broken hand in the second game of my Junior season. Yet I persevered and two months after the season, captured the MVP award for Quarterbacks at the Top Prospects Canada Combine.During the off-season I focused my training and created more size and strength. I have attended football camps at the University of Minnesota Gophers, NDSU, and UND. I also competed and played QB in 7vs7 tournaments in Las Vegas, Chicago, and North Dakota. This summer I was to be the starting QB for the Manitoba U18 Provincial football team at the Canada Cup in Montreal however, 2 practices before leaving to the event, I sustained a broken thumb on my throwing hand and could not play. This adversity has made me stronger and more committed towards reaching my goals.Academics are very important to me. I hold a 4.0 GPA and have been an Honor Role student throughout my Middle-School and High-School years.I live by our family code of conduct that my Dad taught us at a young age: Do your Best, Do the Right Thing, and Treat Others how You would like to be Treated.
