Making the varsity football team as a sophomore was the highlight and turning point of my high school career. After making the team, my dedication to the sport and school increased. I started to spend time after school to study and to lift weights. I decided to set an academic goal to keep me on task; the goal was to maintain an A or B grade for all my classes, plus in college.
Football has always been a getaway and interest for me since I could remember. On my rec football teams, I was continually one of the captains of the team motivating my teammates and pushing them past their limits. I have always been a leader; it doesn't matter if it was in the classroom or on the field. As a former two-sport athlete, I know what it is needed to be a leader on your team.
