Personal Statement
My name is Elijah's Mitchell, and I am a 6’3’’ Wide Receiver in the class of 2022, but I have also played Quarterback. This 2021 Fall year I will be starting as a Wide Receiver on the varsity team. Even though we did not have a 2020 season because of COVID-19; I stayed busy playing on my 7 on 7 Team and even participated in the VTO Elite 100 Showcase where I won MVP Wide Receiver and VTO Sports All- American Challenge where I won the 2020 All-American Second Team Wide Receiver. My hard work and dedication allow me to excel and keep going even when there are obstacles that show up like the Pandemic.
During the school year 2019, as a Sophomore, I was the starting Varsity Quarterback for Gwynn Park High School Yellowjackets located in Brandywine MD. Where I threw for 16 touchdowns for about 1300 yards, ran for ten touchdowns for about 800 yards, and was the Captain of my Varsity Team. My current cumulative grade point average is 3.4, but my objective is to obtain and maintain a 4.0 or higher by taking Honor classes.
Athleticism has allowed me the opportunity to play football, baseball, and run track, but I know that my Academic achievement is a Top priority too. My goal is to study Cyber Security and Robotics in college because I like the idea of challenging my ability to learn, advance my knowledge in Information technology and analyze situations that I’m faced with.
What makes me a good candidate for your University is that I am an individual who works hard at achieving my goals while striving to be the best at my craft and going beyond the call of duty. I’m also a thoughtful person that works diligently to be the best team player, who’s always helping everyone around me achieve their goals as well.
In addition, what makes me different from other recruits is my character, my athleticism, and my commitment to academics. I am also very assertive, confident, and possess good leadership skills. I don’t mind being challenged to the limit by coaches and teammates because I know that the real world is going to challenge me even more. So, I continually find ways to overcome those obstacles because I know I will come out successful in the end. I’m always looking at ways that I can help my team get better by working hand in hand with the coaches and players, studying films, and analyzing my progression by researching those who have played at my position both in college and the NFL.
Finally, if you take a chance on me; you will not regret it because I will make the most out of the situation. I will work harder than others in the weight room and on the field while keeping a high Grade-Point Average. This means doing all that’s necessary from going to the library and study hall to maintain my grades. I will also continue to go to church because I know that faith and hard work is truly the keys to success. These are all the foundations of my life.
