Personal Statement

Winning the Maryland National Gridiron State Championship and going undefeated for the 2015 season has been the highlight of my football career. Being able to represent my team gives me a sense of pride. As team captain I shared with my team members the techniques and knowledge of the game. It is a great feeling when I motivate others to do their best. I also volunteer to mentor younger football players after practice. I believe having good grades also makes me a positive role model to my team members and younger players. Being involved in many sports and competitions over the years I realize you cannot win every game but that does not mean you give up, you try harder. I know I have to push hard to succeed. There are weeks I have athletics and training every day along with school work. I have learned to manage my time with good performance in both academics and athletics. I have gained valuable knowledge attending camps and combines. The coaches I meet teach me better techniques to use for my positions. Listening to their suggestions have helped me improve each football season, there is always more to learn. Even though I consider myself as a quick learner and someone that can think outside the box I would not have been able to improve if I was not open minded and willing to learn. Coaches and teachers want to help because they see potential.

I know I will not be able to play football and sports for a lifetime but the experiences and friendships made will follow me in everything I do in life. Athletics have helped me develop into the person I am today and will be tomorrow. Sports have taught me teamwork, leadership, dedication, integrity and given me ambition to achieve at higher levels. I am looking for a college program that can give me both the education and athletic experience I need to succeed.
