- 2011 Season Highlights
Personal Statement
My name is Jonathan Marrero; I am a senior at Another Course to College but play varsity for the Brighton High School in Brighton, Massachusetts. I have been a starter on the varsity football team since freshmen year. The positions I play are Quarterback, Slot Wide Receiver, Corner Back, Free Safety and Return Man. Currently, I have a 2.8 GPA and 1220 SAT score. High school has been a great journey, I went All-Scholastic in 2011, received the Dr. Bennett Award which is given to the best player in the City of Boston and received a John and Abigail Adams Scholarship, which entitles free tuition for any state university/college within Massachusetts.
Football is a sport that I have a lot of passion towards. I am 5’10” weigh 160lbs, run a 4.4 40 yard dash, 33 vertical jump, 9.5ft broad jump and run the shuttle in 2.3 seconds. As a Quarterback, I finished my high school career with 40 rushing touch downs and a total of 4500 rushing yards. Through the air, I had a total of 3450 passing yards with 27 passing touchdowns. On the defensive side, I finished with a total of 20 interceptions and 173 tackles. I am a hard and dedicated athlete who leads by example. I have been captain since freshmen year and never allowed my team short hand each other. As a captain, my goal is always to have an impact on my team mates and I successfully achieved that. Although at times we endured several challenges; myself and team mates developed the ability to maintain posed and emotionally controlled at all times. Leading my team two years in a row to the Division 4A Super bowl was a great accomplishment.
My personal desire is to attend colleges/universities within the New England or South area; such as Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New Hampshire, New York and New Jersey. I am seeking for a big school but open to small and different types with an academic level of excellence in the Business and Sports Management fields. Because of the passion I have in sports, I strongly believe these are the best suitable majors for my career path. In addition, my athletic goal is to play as a freshman at the highest level possible and develop a bond between players and coaches that excel on the gridiron as a whole. Overall, I want my college experience to be memorable and successful in both academically and athletically.
