Personal Statement
I'm Robbie Long, a 2021 Quarterback. Playing football throughout my childhood has taught me work ethic, character, leadership and courage through wins, losses and ties. I make sure to exemplify these skills on a daily basis no matter what endeavor I am taking part in. Being a quarterback in football, I have learned how important the ingredients of character and courage are in order to earn trust from teammates and that you must be the hardest worker on the team while constantly pushing others and keeping a positive attitude. I take that a step further by constantly reminding myself not to just work the hardest on my team, but to work the hardest in the country.
Academics are equally, if not more important to me than athletics. I understand that the majority of life will happen after my athletic career is over. Academically, my main goal is to graduate near the top of my highly competitive boarding school. I strive to attend a college that will challenge me in all subjects and best prepare me for life after academics. I will use athletics in college as an escape from a rigorous school day, while also using it to create friendships and life lessons. What separates me the most from an average kid is my passionate hate for mediocrity. I take pride in putting in the extra work that nobody else wants to or even thinks about doing.
