I grew up with both my parents, my sister and my two brothers. My family would attend Christian bible studies. All that I do and accomplish is for them. My trust and confidence in God and myself have helped me accomplish things that can almost seem impossible at times. Then when I started playing sports, my parents made and make numerous sacrifices, no matter the cost or financial struggle that they endured. They are my biggest supporters, and I would not be able to do anything if it weren’t for them.
When I was about ten years old my brother, and I wanted to play another sport besides basketball. I wanted to play soccer, and he wanted to play football, we had to compromise because my father couldn’t be at both practices and games. So, my brother convinced me to play football, and I fell in love with the sport, which is ironic because I will now be leading my high school’s football team into the 2018-2019 season as the quarterback. When first starting out as a football player I wasn't too good at all. I was smaller and slower than most but I never gave up, and I worked my tail off to get more playing time. I became a running back in pop warner football, and it stayed that way for a few years until our quarterback was injured. I jumped at the opportunity and won the position. I became something else that year because that's when I started playing for the people around me so that I can be successful for them.
The obstacles I’ve overcome in my life have knocked me down, and I’ve always got back up, and so I feel I’ve always been resilient, but one thing I have learned about myself playing my sport is that my competitive spirit will never die. I will still push myself to be the best I can be and put all my focus on completing that goal. I play every game like it’s my last and I feel it in my bones that this is my calling. I will push myself to the absolute max to be successful for my family, my teammates, and coaches. To not only play ball at the highest level I can but to inspire others around me to want to be better athletes and role models.
