Personal Statement

As a senior on varsity I was a defensive back and on goal line situations they put me in as a middle linebacker. On offense I played running back and wide receiver. As for this years stats, I do not have that information because we have a brand new head coach and defensive coach and they are running a new system. When stats are available I will add them here and send to those showing interest.

As a junior on varsity I was a strong safety from Armada, Michigan with a great amount of knowledge of reading an offense. My coach mentioned this to me on a regular basis. That year I rounded up a total 166 tackles 80 solo, 86 assists with 11 tackles for a loss. I also had 6 deflected passes and 2 interceptions. With these accomplishments the coaches of my county deemed me worthy for 2nd team All- County as Strong Safety. In 2012 at the NUC Combine Trench Warfare I took first place and you can verify this with the fantastic organization. From attending many college camps this summer many of the coaches from D1 and D2 have mentioned to me that I am a very coachable player.

·         MAC coach- Son if you play for me I will turn you into a NFL player because you are coachable.

·         MAC coach- you play like my number one player who will be going to the NFL after this season.

·         GLIAC coach- I love your downhill aggressiveness and how you attack the ball.

·         GLIAC coach- I like how quick your feet are and how you break to the ball.

·         Ivy League coach- I like your tenacity.

·         Ivy League coach- Have great concentration on the ball while it is in the air.

·         Ivy League coach- Fantastic man press on the deep routes.

·         Big 10 coach- I love how you are coachable and with your abilities it is better than any of the DB’s we are recruiting now and you shave .2 of your 40 time we will be talking.

·         Midwest Elite 7on7 coach- you are coachable and have great understanding of the game where; you basically know the routes of the players and where it is going to be going.

·         NUC U100 coach- Very coachable and great knowledge you can play any position.

·         UAA coach- Great student athlete, you are exactly the kind of DB we want at our program.

·         ECAC coach- Looks like you are doing work in the classroom as well as in the weight room and on the field.

My GPA is 3.712 while attending Armada High School and Macomb Academy of Arts & Science. Compassion is important! I am a NHS student, volunteer with video at my Church, and helping at the local Veterinary Clinic. In addition, I’m passionate about tutoring kids that are struggling and always glad to assist in any fundraising to help those who are in need.

A university that excels in veterinary medicine with degree in marketing to start up my own clinic would be ideal. From working with children I am also open to teaching and degree in finance. A great opportunity given to me was to work and coach children of all ages and abilities as well as children with special needs.  I have a strong commitment to myself for teaching and coaching children throughout my adult life.

I was 1 of 450 students honored to be selected to attend the National Youth Leadership Forum in Washington, D.C. This course focused on leadership, diplomacy and national security. While there my peers nominated me to be a high level official when we did mock crisis moments that had me making crucial decisions on we should do.

Fishing and hunting with my Dad has always been a part of my life and we do this competitively too. It is a great way for me to unwind and to be with my Dad and other family members.

It would be a great honor and pleasure to communicate with you.

Sincerely,
Doug Phillips III
