Personal Statement
I started playing football in the 4th grade, at age 9. I initially started playing in hopes my dad would come around, as that’s what we talked about before I was old enough to play. I continued to push harder and harder, hoping he would show up at even just one game. As I continued to grow older, physically and mentally, I would look up in the stands and search for him, but I never saw him. I did always see one person, and that was my mom. My mom has helped mold me into who I am today. Through all of the sports I have played, football, basketball, wrestling, lacrosse, she has pushed me and helped keep me on track academically. I have learned within myself that I have a drive that continues to want more and more.
Through sports, I have learned of true friendship and brotherly love which is something I will never forget and cherish throughout my life. I have such respect for not only my teammates, but the amazing coaches I have encountered so far. Through my experience with sports, I have learned that hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard. I also strive for academic achievement. I give schooling my all. I have found that my character, honesty, and uniqueness has given me such an advantage in life. I care so much about people, and want to also help others succeed in the best way I can. I want to play football in college for me this time, not my dad. I have what it takes and will give it my all, not only athletically, but mentally as well.
