Personal Statement
My name is Harrison Unger and I’m in the class of 2021 at Davison High School, in Davison Michigan. In 2018 / 2019, I made the varsity football team and started every game for the season at defensive end. I have played football since I was six years-old and I have played many positions both offensively and defensively, however this was my first experience at defensive end. On the field I pride myself on having good sportsmanship, giving 110% and “playing the game the way it’s supposed to be played”. My outlook for the 2019 / 2020 season is to build my skills at defensive end and also enhance my abilities at tight end on the offensive side of the ball.
Outside of football I play on a 16U travel baseball team. My primary position is 3rd base, but I’ve played (started) at all infield positions and I also pitch. During the week I work out everyday in my Strength & Conditioning class at school. On Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays I participate in an advanced athletic performance workout which brings in other non-lifting elements. The workout focuses on stamina, cardio, core strength, speed and agility.
I am also focused on my academics and success in the classroom. I take multiple honors classes and I’m working to improve upon my current GPA of 3.4. I work hard to be well-liked and respected by both my teachers and peers. Volunteering is a big part of who I am. During the winter I help referee at our local youth basketball league. I enjoy doing this because watching and helping the kids participate in sports is fun and I feel like I am giving back to my community.
My ultimate goal is to obtain a college education at a respectable Midwest college and participate in that schools football program. I believe that furthering both my education and football career will prepare me well and provide me with the tools to be successful in the future.
