I am a rising senior starting at Defensive End and Offensive Lineman at Grosse Pointe South High School in Grosse Pointe, MI. Like many athletes, I have strived from a young age to play football at the collegiate level. Sophomore year I played on the Varsity team. I started on both sides of the ball and had a very successful and progressive season. As the result of a lot of hard work and good coaching, I improved greatly and was honored to be voted by my team as our Most Valuable Underclassmen, and received an All Conference Honorable Mention. As a Junior, I made great improvements. I am 30lbs heavier and have added significant weight to all my maxes while maintaining my speed. This resulted in a very successful Junior season. I was once again voted by my teammates at Most Valuable Underclassman, and I was awarded 1st Team All Conference and 2nd team All East. A three sport athlete, I also compete in varsity wrestling and won District Finals and made it all the way to the State Finals throwing Discus for our track team.
Off the field I am just as competitive academically, taking three honor classes and three AP classes sophomore year and five AP and two Honors classes junior year. I have managed to maintain a 3.65 GPA. I participate in Leadership Counsel, Varsity Club, Latin Club, and Young Life in my free time. I am a hard worker, getting up at 4 am every morning to train before school. My hard work is paying off and I have even set several new school records in the weight room and in discus. I am very proud of the accomplishments I have achieved so far, but I will not ever be satisfied with them.
I hope to pursue a degree in Biological Sciences and I am looking for an opportunity to balance academics and athletics. To participate in collegiate athletics would be the epitome of accomplishment in my opinion. Only the best of the best are offered a chance to compete at this level. I believe its the competition and sense of brotherhood that draws me to the sport of football. The idea of being able to continue playing the sport I love, training with other top athletes aspiring for the same goals, all in an environment tailored to progressing athletes; that is what drives me. I would like to continue the brotherhood I've been fortunate enough to experience in high school throughout my collegiate career.
