Personal Statement

I am a 6'0, 175 pound quarterback(WR-R) from Manistee, Michigan, whose dream is to play college football. As a quarterback; I have exceptional speed (4.5/ 40 yard run) and throw a very accurate ball as a drop back and/or roll-out Q.B. [ Some of my current accomplishments include: 2 year varsity starter, 3 year track varsity starter, appointed 2010 FB & Track team captain, 2x 300m hurdles regional champion, 2010 MI-Div. II All-State Track Honors, and 2010 MI-Div. II Track-Academic All-State] My motivation to be an impact player at the next level is high. I am from a family that holds the game of football in high esteem; having two brothers that play D1-AA football, and one that has gone on to coach at that level. I am looking for a school where I will have an opportunity to excel in the classroom and on the football field. I currently have plans to major in business and psychology ENDORSEMENT #1: Carl has been a 2 year varsity starter in our program. He is the most athletic QB I've coached in 7 years as a head coach. His skill set translates best at the QB/WR / KR positions. Carl has a very fast initial burst and straight away speed in the open field. Carl is a tireless worker in our strength and conditioning program. He provides a great example to the younger players in our program. "He is a kid that we really have to make sure we utilize his talents. He is one of the faster kids you are going to see. He has incredible mechanics, he really does a great job hiding the ball. He definitely has great touch and puts the ball where it needs to be." [News Advocate Interview] [Gus Kapolka: Manistee High School --History Instructor and Varsity Head Football Coach] ENDORSEMENT #2: In my 18 years of coaching track and field in Michigan, I have not coached a more talented hurdler than Carl. He is a hard worker with a great attitude and exceptional ability. He is truly an athlete that stands above his peers. Carl made an immediate impact on our track team right from the start. He was the lone freshman racing with upperclassmen on several of our relay teams, and he narrowly missed making the state finals as a hurdler. His sophomore year, Carl anchored a school-record tying relay squad that won a regional title, as well as collecting a regional title himself in the 300M hurdles. This season, as a junior, Carl is closing in on not only a school record in the hurdles, but also a state championship title in that event. In addition to being a superior athlete, Carl has matured into a team leader. This season he was voted by his teammates as team captain. He has taken the initiative to work with other teammates, staying after practice to help them improve. He is one of those kids that a coach selfishly doesn't want to see graduate! Carl has also been a leader off the playing field. As a class advisor, I've been fortunate to have his help on many class projects, whether it is building the class float for homecoming or performing in the school talent assembly. He volunteers with the National Honor Society, and maintains a solid work ethic in the classroom in my Trigonometry and Pre-Calculus courses. [Eric Thuemmel: Manistee High School-- Math Instructor; Head Varsity Track and Field Coach] ENDORSEMENT #3: "Carl is a very fast Q.B. Who throws well from all parts of the field. He throws a very accurate ball. Carl is very coach-able, works hard, and takes on the leadership role on the field." [Jason Malloy: Next Level Camp Director and Ypsilanti High School Head Football Coach] ENDORESEMENT #4: "Carl is very fast, has great Q.B. mechanics,is focused, and throws a very good accurate ball." [Coach Popps: Q.B. Tutor and Member of the Brother Rice Football Coaching Staff ] ENDORESEMENT #5: "Carl has great mechanics, technique and throws a nice ball. Because of his skills he should be throwing allot this season. He throws a nice ball as a drop-back Q.B." [Drew Stanton: Former MSU Quarterback--Detroit Lions Quarterback]
