I am a 5’11” junior at Detroit Catholic Central High School. I started on the 2017 and 2018 DCC Freshman and JV football teams as an offensive lineman. As a freshman, I started at right guard and played some defensive end. Sophomore year was a transitional change for me. I was moved to starting left tackle and middle linebacker. I was not a typical tackle. I was smaller than most tackles. But I am strong and held my own most of the time. I have been told that I have excellent footwork for a player my age. I am unusually fast for an offensive lineman. On JV last year, I was among the fastest of any position on our team. I won the 200-meter dash in 8th grade for the two middle schools in my home school district. Although it is much different from the line, I enjoyed learning the linebacker position last year. With more experience as the season went along, I got better and more comfortable at the LB position.
Football is something I am passionate about. I expect this year on varsity I will primarily play linebacker. If the opportunity arises, I will play wherever my coaches think I am the best asset for my team. I want to help my team be successful. My coaches tell me that I am a very coachable athlete. My teammates and I work well together and get each other to improve. One thing I need to work on is being more vocal. I am told that at the moment, I lead by example not by my words.
Although I work hard in football, school is a definite priority for me. I like to learn and take challenging classes. I get good grades. In the future, I would like to major in space sciences and engineering. I want to go to a school that is both stimulating and challenging for me in both athletics and academics.
