My name is Björn Charles and I’m a Junior placekicker at Rogers High School in Minnesota. My education is important to me now and in college because it will be the foundation of my future. I’m open to a college where I can earn an education that will lead to success in my career and help me grow mentally, emotionally and spiritually. I strive to maintain my 3.0+ GPA with some AP courses while still participating in leadership and mentoring programs. My involvement with athletics is full of passion to compete and to win. I must demonstrate not only a willingness to commit myself to my craft and coaches, but the willingness to learn from my mistakes. This is easy as I love being a specialist.
I’m a proud placekicker for the Rogers Royals Football. With the support of my coaches and teammates, I’ve really been blessed as a specialist. This past season was my first season of being a specialist. I’ve always wanted to be a specialist and it shows in my love for soccer kicks, but I didn’t start growing until my sophomore year. Last year, I finally felt confident enough to be a specialist in order to help the team. It’s been a blast. I share my success and recognition with my coaches and teammates who put me in a position to, “do my job” in placekicking. I’ve worked hard the last 6 months and have attended year around specialist trainings and minicamps. I’m grateful for my coaches and parents who have trained, loved and supported me down a path I believe God has opened for me. I’ve been rewarded with national rankings, all-conference references and player of the week awards as a specialist. I begun punting this winter and feel my training is improving both skills every session out. I love the unity of a football team that can be strong on/ off the field. This “bond of brothers” is very important to me and to a team’s success. We will win and loose, but we’ll do it as a team of brothers. I supplement my placekicking training as a Varsity soccer player. I’ve played this game and I’ve taken all my teams kicks, since I was 5 years- old. This has prepared me for the intensity and sometimes isolation in being a specialist. I’ve kicked thousands of balls and this kicking motion is as normal to me as walking down the hallways in school. I’m able to adapt to any kick my coach needs from me and feel confident when I run out on the field. As a Varsity Soccer Captain I’ve learned to be a leader. I know the only way to do this is to have my teammates with me. As a kicking specialist, I keep this same focus of unity in being a leader and leading by example my coaches expect from me.
My goal is to earn a position as a placekicking specialist in college. I understand this means dedication, excellence in school and sometimes just getting lucky! I know I can get good grades and split the goalposts. I’m not going to fail at my goal of college placekicking with a “band of brothers.” The lord blesses everyone with a unique characteristic, an ability or a mentality. I feel I’ve been blessed with the ability to learn, compete and to kick. I’m excited to learn from my teachers, coaches and teammates.
Please review my profile and follow me as I continue to add videos, transcripts ACT scores and other information. My ACT is in April and I’ve completed my NCAA D1/D2 eligibility form. I will be attending a Special Teams Football Academy mini camp arranged by my Coach, Chris Husby at St. Johns in July. I too will be attending the University of Wisconsin camp in June. I will participate in several other individual sessions with Coach Husby through 2018. I intend to post several videos showing my corrections and abilities. Imncluded, will be improving my hang time and distance on punts. Finally, I’ll attend the Kohl’s Showcase this fall. I am willing to speak to coaches about my education, my goals and about being a specialist. Please feel free to call me. I am humbled you took the time to review my profile. Thank you.
