Personal Statement

“I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.” - Philippians 4:13

Hello, my name is Michal McDaniel! I am a Sophomore place kicker, kick off specialist and punter enrolled full time at Holmes Community College, in Ridgeland, MS. I am not a member of Holmes' football team I am on a full academic scholarship and maintain part time employment. My journey started at Northwest Rankin high school where I started my senior season as a place kicker, kick off specialist and punter.I was recruited out of high school by several institutions and ultimately decided to play JUCO football at Southwest Mississippi Community College in order to have a starting position as a freshmen. This decision was both a financial decision and one centered on my progression as a player. I started every game my freshmen season connecting on 2 of 3 field goals with a long of 48 yards (1 blocked) and 12 of 12 PATs. Needless to say we did not get in to scoring position very often. I kicked off 27 time with an average of 62.7 yards and 8 touchbacks. The atmosphere at Southwest caused me to transfer after my first semester. My car was broken into during the first month of my attendance. I transferred to Holmes where I focused on my education earning an invitation to the Phi Theta Kappa honor society and the President's list. I plan to refocus my efforts on a reemergence into the game. My work ethic in both the classroom and on the field is unequaled. I may be beaten athletically but I refuse to be out worked or out hustled in life or between the hashes. God has given me a talent that I will not waste. The Lord has blessed me with mental strength in order to live above other people’s influence and make the right choices everyday.

"Knowledge is power. Information is liberating. Education is the premise of progress, in every society, in every family." - Kofi Annan
