Personal Statement
My name is Daulton Newman, and I am 17 years old. I am 6'2" and 295 lbs. I will be a senior in the fall of 2011 at Eupora High School in Eupora, Mississippi. I play football and play right guard and also have played tackle, center(shotgun), and defensive tackle. I am extremely serious about playing at the next level. I love to compete and win and I love to prepare. I enjoy the process of working out and getting ready to win. I believe that I would be asset for a college program and I believe college coaches would agree if they could get to know me. I believe my achievements so far are a good indicator of what I can contribute in the future. I am 6'2" and 295 lbs. My fastest 40 yard time is 5.12. My one rep squat max is 650lbs right now. My one rep bench press max is 350lbs. I work everyday on being quicker and more explosive. I have played varsity football for the past three years (since I was a freshman) and have started in 41 games. I was elected permanent Captain in my junior year. I have played football since the fifth grade and have been blessed to play on very good teams. I have been a member of two teams with ten plus win seasons, a regional championship team, and a north-half runner-up team. I am proud that I played a part in my teams achieving success. I have also been a part of a regional championship baseball team, and I won a national powerlifting championship at the State Games of America in Colorado Springs, Colorado. I was also a state runner-up in MHSAA Powerlifting in my two years of high school. Also in baseball, my team participated in the Dizzy Dean World Series twice as 12 and 14 year olds. As I get ready to begin my senior season, I realize I am in a position of leadership. I want to lead by example, anybody can talk but if I am the first one there and the last to leave and put my heart into all I do, I can speak and my words mean something. Finally, I think I can play college football because of my flexibility in choice of schools. I am interested in finding a college where I help the college and the college can help me. Location, size and enrollment are not that important as long as the school offers a pre-med program, biomedical engineering program, or a related major. I believe that I can qualify academically for almost any school. Although open to new ideas, this is what I believe I want to do. Also I have financial need for getting to school. Realistically, my athletic goals are to make an impact on a team, play as early as possible, and to help and lead a team into achieving its ultimate goal. In conclusion, words can not express how serious I am about playing at the college level. I hope that college coaches are looking for a player like me to have on their team. I will do whatever it takes to better myself to play college football and be successful while doing so.
