Personal Statement
Playing the game of Football has been the highlight of my life. Football has been a part of my family for years. I have a cousin (Tim Bowens) who graduated from Okolona High School, and played collegiate football at Itawamba Community College, Fulton, Ms, then Transferred to Ole Miss, Oxford, Ms, and then was drafted to the Miami Dolphins in 1995. I have another cousin (Calvin McMillian) who on this year has just committed to playing football for the Mississippi State Bulldogs (Starkville, Ms) in 2020. Both of these guys have been my role models and motivators. I have been playing football from the pee wee level and now at the High School level. However, I feel I grew the most my Junior year, when we were playing in a overtime game, playing in freezing temperatures with rain coming down. I remember I was so tired and we were on offense, but I could hear my coaches, the fans, my team mates saying block line and I could hear my parents saying, "come on Ahmad" do what you do best, and from that game on, it has motivated me to not give in, to not give up, and when I am on the field, I encourage my self, by saying "one more play", "one more block" "one more push." That experience helped me to re-focus my own efforts on becoming a solid offensive lineman, and to not just prepare for a 4 quarter game, but to prepare physically, mentally, emotionally, and treat every game like its a overtime game and championship game. I learned the true value of teamwork, sacrifice, and how to play grown man football during those games when our backs were against the wall. I'm looking for a program that will be a good fit for me athletically, as well as academically. I believe I not only have the talent to compete for a college team, but the character, work-ethic, discipline and leadership skills to make an immediate impact on your program. As a two-sport athlete, I know that I have what it takes to be a valuable asset on your team and play at the college level.
