Personal Statement
I am a goal oriented person both academically and athletically. I strive to be the very best in all aspects of my life. Academically, I would like to earn a bachelor's degree and eventually a master's degree. Athletically, I would like to earn the opportunity to compete at the highest level possible and perform to the very best of my abilities. I possess intense self-discipline, an unstoppable work ethic, and keen motivation that will separate me from others both athletically and academically. As a military child, I was born in Okinawa, Japan and had to move around the world 7 times, and at a young age that proved to be an obstacle. Having that constant change every year or two, necessitated that I make new friends, which helped mold me into a more resilient and adaptable person. As a hurdler on my high school track and field team, I did not advance to the state championship my freshman year, as I was knocked out in the last qualifying round. That failure and disappointment motivated me to focus even harder on my training and provided me with an unrelenting source of motivation and determination to prove to myself that I was one of the best, and that resulted with me winning my region in back-to-back years and advancing to the state championship in both of those years. My experience as a team captain on my high school's track team afforded me the opportunity to lead my peers, to set a goal, to work together as a unit towards that goal, and reap the benefits of teamwork. My passion for football revolves around watching football growing up, along with the challenge, sacrifice, and sense of accomplishment that I receive when playing because of all the effort I put forth, makes it very self-satisfying.
