Personal Statement

I didn’t start playing football until I was in the 6th grade. From the first practice to the first game I knew I was in love with the sport and would want to play it as long as possible. That year we didn’t win a single game but I always played my hardest because I didn’t want to be the reason we lost. I understand that its an 11 man game and it takes everyone so I never want to be the reason my team loses.

In 7th grade I had a lot of growing up to do I played around way too much. Then two weeks before the end of season my coach said to me that I was pretty good and the only reason I wasn’t playing was because I messed around. From that point on I worked super hard and didn’t mess around I started the last game of that year at center. We beat our schools rival by 1 touchdown and since then we haven’t beaten them and my goal for this next season is to make sure that changes.

My freshman team I thought was a pretty good one but we couldn’t win a single game and I partially felt responsible because no one stepped up to be a leader for the team and I should’ve done that. This year however my JV team went 4-1-2 my highlight game was against a conference rival where I had four sacks. My first sack was off a QB scramble when he tried to escape the pocket I ran him down. The second the center tried to cut block me and I pushed him down and hurdled over him and got the sack. The last two were end of game. We were up by one point I had just come off of offence and my coach wasn’t going to put me in. I went to him and said let me finish this game coach I went in and on first down I got a sack pinning them inside the 10-yard line. On second down I got another sack pinning the inside the 5 yard line. On third down with 8 seconds left I hurried the QB and he lobbed the ball deep. Our corner back picked it off and we won the game.

My freshman year also our varsity team was pretty good I didn’t play any varsity that year but that was my fault. I didn’t believe I had any chance to play varsity so I took it easy in practice. At the end of season my position coach told me if I had worked harder he would’ve at least let me dress varsity that year. That really upset me because I would’ve loved that opportunity. So going into sophomore football I worked my hardest every practice. This was the first year since 7th grade I had to earn my spot. I didn’t start varsity until three games into the season but I played in every game. When I got my chance to start I made the most off it. We ended 5-5 but I felt I always played hard. I cant wait till next season to try and go deep into the playoffs
