Personal Statement
My collegiate goals are to play football, but most importantly graduate with a degree in Nursing. I have a good work ethic, take criticism well, and I am always looking to improve myself both as a player and a man. I think that is what makes me a good candidate for any team. I am always trying to bring my teammates up in a tough situation, and I never blame others.
I've been playing varsity football since I was a freshman. I had the privilege of being voted to tri-captain my junior year. I've always been respected by my teammates for my work ethic and intensity. But the responsibility of being a captain on the field changed the way I played the game of football. I had a whole new set of standards to meet. I needed to be encouraging and positive, yet critique my teammates without sounding demeaning to them. I needed to learn to control my own emotions, more then I had done in the past. I used to be my own worst critic.
My most defining moment as a captain was going into halftime down by several touchdowns, and bringing my teammates up with my intensity both in the locker room and on the field to eventually win the game.
I am a three sport athlete, competing in football, basketball, and track. I have had the opportunity to play post season football in all three years of high school. I have competed in two state basketball tournaments as a sophomore and junior. I have also qualified for the state track meet my sophomore year.
In school I have a 3.9 GPA which does include dual credit courses. I am dedicated to my education and am not afraid to ask questions to better understand a topic.
