Personal Statement

My name is Jadyn Cole Martinez.  I am 17 years old and going into my Senior year at Charles M. Russell High School.  I was born and raised in Great Falls, Montana.  I am the oldest of 8 children -- I have 4 younger brothers and 3 younger sisters.   I help out with my siblings as much as I can to help out at home.  My 11 year old brother is in tackle football and I practice with him often.  My 3 younger siblings are all under the age of 4.  I help watch them when needed, as family is very important to me.  My mother and father together have brought us up in a humble Christian home with great morals and direction.  They are completely supportive of my future and my dreams.

Football is my passion in life, as I love to set goals to improve.  I have been involved with and played football since the second grade.   I started off with flag football when I was 7 years old.  As soon as I was able to play tackle football (5th grade at age 10), I participated.  I started football camps at that age as well in the summer.  Then when I started Freshman year in high school, I challenged myself more.  I started weight lifting everyday.  In the off-season since grade school, I participated in track to make me more rounded athletically.

I am a very hard worker and I am extremely focused on my future.  In the summer, I wake-up at 6:00 am to go weight lift.  I work out for 2 hours every morning.  Then I come home and make a big healthy breakfast.  I eat healthy and a great amount of protein so I am able to increase in weight.  I have been able to gain 30 pounds since freshman year with eating healthy and muscle gaining.  In the afternoon, I go back to my school to work on foot work, speed, and catching practice.   Now that I am a Senior and a starting wide receiver for Varsity at CMR High School, I truly try to help underclassman with plays in football, as I believe passing down knowledge, practice, and help to others is very helpful to them as an individual and as a team.  I believe that what I do in football in the game is all for the team and not just about me.

I have a job as well during the weekend.  I am a leader and train others in my job position at Airsoft, which is a place for people to practice air gun and/or shooting safety.  I have worked here consistently since Freshman year.  In addition, I also work with Special Olympics.  Donating my time to others is very important to me.

During the school year, I am up and at school by 6:45 am for a class before school actually begins.  I have already received college credits by doing this.  I have received recognition by being on the Honor Roll all 3 years in high school, and plan to do so Senior year as well.  I have taken the ACT's, but I am not satisfied with my score.  I have already contacted my adviser to retake the ACT's early Senior year.

My dreams are to first and foremost succeed academically and to set and reach goals athletically in my football career.  I would absolute love to make it to the NFL one day, if my goals are met and life allows.
