Hello, my name is Noah Stafursky. Thank you for checking out my profile. I will graduate from York High School in York, Nebraska in May 2019. I am 6'4" and 310 pounds and participate in football as an Offensive and Defensive Tackle, and also in wrestling and track. I have a 3.68 GPA.
In November 2017 my teammates and I won the Nebraska Class B State Football Championship for the first time in school history. I worked hard to earn a starting position on both the Offensive and Defensive lines and was named to the Class B All State Teams by the Grand Island Independent, Lincoln Journal Star and Nebraskaland Preps (Rivals) website. I was also named Class B All State Honorable Mention in the Omaha World Herald.
I have played football since 4th Grade. Prior to junior high school, I traveled 100 miles round trip three days a week to Lincoln in order to practice and play in a league there since I was too big to play in our small town league. This is my first memory of making an extra commitment to do something that was important to me and something I loved. I think football has helped me build my character by throwing roadblocks at me and requiring me to overcome them.
In 8th grade I began wrestling competitively. This month (February 2018) I finished 3rd at the Nebraska Class B State Wrestling Championships in the 285lb division, ending the year 41-3 with 34 pins and 4-1 at the State tournament. I was disappointed in not winning the championship, but I am proud of the fact that I wrestled back to the 3rd place finish after a disappointing loss in the semifinals. I believe it showed my ability to overcome challenges and continue to fight to be the best I can.
This year's experience at State wrestling was an improvement on my experience last year, when I finished with a 46-17 record, qualified for the State tournament as a sophomore and finished just out of the medals, going 2-2. Wrestling has been a great experience, making me smarter in the way I compete by allowing me to work on my flexibility, footwork, balance and using my hands.
My first love is football though and I want to compete at a high level during the rest of my high school years and in college. I'm not afraid of hard work and I want to attend a school where I will be able to play and contribute to the team as soon as possible. I have played primarily nose guard and offensive tackle. I'm committed to playing wherever I can best help my team.
Outside of school and athletics I enjoy working with animals, including volunteering at York Adopt-a-Pet and taking part in cross-country transports of rescued dogs. I want to study physical therapy in college and will graduate high school with almost a semester or more in college credits from dual-credit courses I'm taking.
Thanks for looking at my profile.
