Personal Statement
My name is Apolonio Jose Cremar, everyone knows me by either Polo or AJ. I began playing football at the age of 8, although I have had an interest in football since I was in diapers (according to my mom). I’ve always played sports, beginning with soccer at the age of 3 and then t-ball, little league baseball, football, basketball (little league, school, & club). As the seasons progressed I played fall football then spring football, I really didn’t know where my strengths were. Each season I was with a different coach learning different positions and gaining more experience. In my second spring season I had a coach named Chip and he would always use me as an example of how to block, he also gave me a chance to kick (kickoff and punt), I learned early on that if I could perfect a skill, that would increase my chances of playing in that position. I then began playing center and really enjoyed it, this is where I remained for the rest of my little league career. As the seasons progressed and many coaches later, I learned to be versatile as the coaches would put me where our team had a weakness. I was always one of the leaders on my team, ensuring that I had the right number of players on the field and they were in the right position. As I grew older, I began watching more football and all the video that my mom would tape, this enabled me to work on any weaknesses I felt needed to be better. I learned the plays and learned to read the sport. I hit my growth spurt between my 6th grade and 7th grade years, I grew almost a whole foot, increasing my agility, strength, and speed increasing my confidence as a player. My last season of little league football I was given the opportunity to play in a National Football Competition in Las Vegas, Nevada with another team. We practiced hard and I was given the opportunity to play tight end (a position I had never played) and took the championship, that was the greatest feeling I’d ever felt. I was a part of a national winning team.
I am currently playing football in high school with brand new coaches and new teammates. Learning and discovering new positions (nose guard), however I continue to be the leader on the field, ensuring that I have the right number of players and teammates in the proper positions. I give the coaches feedback when I’m not on the field. I continue to be on special teams, starting offense and defense. I feel very confident that I can play for a coach at any position they feel is best for me and have some experience. I am a coachable player, will listen to each and every coach, learn from my experiences, work hard giving more than 110% of my time & effort, and will bring my versatility to any team. I strive to achieve to be the best player not only on the field, but as well as in the classroom. Academically I work hard to maintain the best grades I can. I would love the opportunity to show you I can dedicate myself to your team and program. My collegiate goals are to maintain the best possible grades, play to the best of my ability, and attain a degree in mechanical engineering.
