Personal Statement
Football is not just something I do, it is my ticket to my future. It's my way for me to express myself and be me. I've been participating in football since I was 7 years old, and through the years I have achieved things I never thought I was capable of. Such as playing a critical role on a team that was in the championship game every year for our Youth Football League here in Albuquerque, but also traveling with team to play in tournaments across the region including Las Vegas, Colorado, Arizona, and West Texas. Each time we went up against teams that were always bigger or stronger than us but we knew how to use our strengths to overcome those odds and win several of the tournaments. Most people do not think of football when they think of Albuquerque but as a team we have been able to let our actions show why they should never overlook any team.
While football is very important to me, my grades always come first. Since I reached middle school I have always had a 3.0 GPA or higher. In my household getting C's or worse is not acceptable. Being able compete in with my team each week is very important to me but I know I must meet or exceed the standards my parents set for me if I want to have the opportunity to compete. My goal is to get a full ride scholarship to college so I can get my education paid for and accomplish my dream of being the second generation in my family to graduate with a degree. I also know how important grades are when schools are considering you for there program so I make sure I put in the work now so I know how to be a successful student athlete.
I know that I cannot compete in football forever, I will be going to school to get my Bachelor's Degree majoring in Health Sciences. My dream is to be able to give back to my community and help young men and women learn to be fit and also help them learn what it takes to make it as an athlete at the next levels. I know I have to have a plan and take things one step at a time so I can make it a reality. I have always had a passion and drive to set my goals and do what it takes to reach them with dedication, commitment, and perseverance. Growing up I have used that discipline and passion to better myself in my education. Also, by being an active member of my community it has allowed me to show I am a good person.
