Personal Statement
I have commit to Dordt University
My main goal is to get a great education in the construction management field of study, as I would like work in the field hands on to gain as much knowledge and skill before I open my own business. My secondary goal is to play football with an exceptional group of coaches and teammates. Although athletics is a passion my academic future is vital to my future. I pride myself on always being honest, working hard, being that helping hand, doing the right thing no matter what, and never giving up.
My years in YAFL helped mold me into the person and player I am today. As a high school senior, I still play with many of the kids and coaches I grew up playing with. A couple years ago our Football family suffered a tremendous loss after one of our brothers passed away. Though this rocked myself and our entire football family to our core it has brought us closer together and I equate that as the key factor in our outstanding senior season. We don't lose, we learn. No one is special. We are all valued. There is no "I" in team and everyone plays their part. Because of that I try my best to be a strong and well-rounded player. One of my biggest strengths is I am that versatile player and can play whatever position I may get thrown into. Playing both sides of the ball as well as special teams proves my versatility and helps me to stand out. I went into this season as WR and by happenstance I was put in at CB and earned my place as the starting player. I have really blossomed as a CB, having made many crunch time plays to secure our wins as well as stopping the other team from scoring. I equate the number of interceptions, knock downs, and key tackles to my spatial awareness. Knowing where my teammates are as well as my opponents is the key to my success. My abilities to read the opponent as well as initiate non verbal communication with my teammates has proven effective in stopping the ball.
