Hey coach, my name is Rashad 'Pop' Wilson I am a student-athletes from South Jamaica Queens NY and football is my LIFE! Since I was six years old and my dad took me to my first Pop Warner practice I been in love with the sport ever since. The action, the excitement, the workouts, the way the coaches made it feel like a family and most of all the competition. I looovee to compete!!
On every level I ever played on I've always been one of the team leaders and from the age of 9 up to now I've always been a team captain. The teams I been a part of have won championships on every level of my time in youth football playing for the Rosedale Jets. In my first year on the high school level, playing in the toughest division in NYC PSAL, (the Brooklyn A division) i was able to lead my JV team in tackles and forced fumbles playing linebacker while also catching 3 touchdowns and a couple 2pt conversions playing tight end as my team raised its win total up to six wins from two wins the year before I got there. This past year I transferred to Bayside high school in Queens where I was named team captain after summer and pre season workouts. I went on to lead my team in tackles, forced fumbles and sacks and also scored 7 touchdowns leading my squad to our first regular season division title in school history. Outside of my school team I also played on a couple all star teams(NY vs NJ and the NYC all stars) where we traveled to Maryland to compete against some of the best teams from Maryland/Baltimore, Virginia, and North Carolina, over the two game weekend I was tied for tops on my team in tackles. I also participated in 7 on 7, and camps FBU, NUC, and OD camp (Offense/Defense) where I was named MVP in my class.
I've always been interested in going to college outside of my region like the south, Midwest, or the West coast just because of the hype surrounding players from those places as being the "cream of the crop" and to get the chance to compete with those guys on a day to day basis would be the greatest thing for me. Also I would love the chance to play college football in the northeast region somewhere close to home because for one it would present the challenge of being a part of building a championship program in a place that's normally considered a "basketball region" and also I would love the challenge of competing against those other guys on the road to the 'chip to show them we have top level talent up here too!
Academically I would love to go to a school where I can pursue my dreams in sports media, sports management and business management because when my playing days are over i want to be a sports analyst, a coach or a real estate agent. Athletically I want to go to a school where I can compete as a freshman for playing time, somewhere that has a family atmosphere, a place where I can grow not only as a player but also as a young man and most of all I want to be a part of a WINNING program.
I've been an only child my whole life and I watch my mom who is the greatest person in my life work hard for everything I needed and wanted and seeing how hard she works made me develop that mentality of working for everything you GET and out working everybody for everything you WANT. If im blessed to be a part of your program I promise you will not regret it. My passion to win, lead, and be great will impact any school and football program I'm apart of in the most positive way during and after my time there, I'm ready to work, I'm ready to win, im ready to be great, I'm ready to be a great piece to your program....Rashad 'Pop' Wilson #StayReadySoYouDontHaveToGetReady
