My name is Brian McNeill and I am a 6'5" 230lb. quarterback. I am a transfer student athlete, and attended Southern CT State University. A redshirted freshman with three years of eligibility left, I earned a 3.22 GPA while majoring in Athletic Training. I have been playing football for over 9 years. As a freshman I was the starting QB for both the Freshmen and JV teams at Immaculate HS in Connecticut, and dressed for the Varsity team. Sophomore year I moved to Brewster, NY where I earned the starting QB position and have been the starter since. My football IQ is very high, I can make changes on the fly and place my ball where it needs to go. In 2013 I participated in the National Underclassmen Combine's 7 on 7. I was one of 8 QB's, and was able to show my leadership skills as well as my athletic skills and football IQ to help lead the team I was on to win the tournament and was awarded the Offensive Player of the day and the MVP for the entire tournament by the NUC coaching staff. I then went on to win the Northeast MVP QB for the regional combine and was ranked the number two QB at the National level. My senior year in high school I was a team Captain and helped to lead my team to an undefeated regular season to win our League. I was named to the Section 1 All Section team and represented the North in the Exceptional Senior Game and was named Captain by my teammates and Coaching Staff. I was also named the #1 male athlete in my senior class and had the honor of being one of the three athletes inducted into the Brewster High School's Athletic Hall of Fame.
The goals set for myself each year is to get stronger and faster and help lead my team to a successful season. I will continue review game film and analyze the opposing teams in my conference and meet with the QB Coach to strategize on how we can get better each week. I want to be as competitive as I can be and a leader on and off the field.
Although I did not get any game time, I learned a lot between the classroom and on the field in practices and at the games. Playing at the college level is a big step up from playing in high school and I am glad I was redshirted because not only do I have three years of eligibility left, I was able to improve and catch up to the speed of the game. The knowledge gained from this past year is what will propel me into being the quarterback I aspire to be. This aspiration is to play at a high level of competition, compete at that level, lead my team, and most importantly win. I want to play football and contribute to a team that is strong, serious and competitive about the game. I am looking for an academic program that will challenge me and provide the best education I can receive to become an athletic trainer. I want to be a successful student athlete who is considered a role model for incoming players and who earns a college degree while contributing to a successful football program.
