Personal Statement
Dear Coaches,
I have been playing football since I was six years old. It is my passion in life and I am extremely driven in furthering my career into collegiate athletics. Anyday I step onto the football field or into the classroom, I give one-hundred percent of myself. I try my hardest to excel and improve as a football player, as a student, and as a man. I have the type of work ethic to set an example for my teammates so that we can reach our potential as a football team. I strive to bring more tenacity and determination than my opponents everyday, and that is the kind of hard work a college football team needs to be able to win. I have used any setback in a practice or game to motivate me to persevere, to make me the strong, smart and tireless quarterback that I am today.
My teammates have always looked to me for advice and guidance whether their dilemma pertains to an on or off the field issue in any of the three sports I play. They view me as a leader and I intend to keep that perception of myself at the next level. To me, being a leader is about the influence I have on my peers. I have the opportunity to positively or negatively affect others everyday, so whether we are the best of friends or have never uttered a word to each other, I choose to positively impact those around me to be their best selves by being my best self. The most challenging part of leadership is to stand out and make yourself vulnerable to others, but I overcome my vulnerability and help enforce change in the people around me so that they become the leaders that the world needs. That is who I am in the classroom, on the field, everywhere in between, and that is who I will be when I come to your program.
Your Future Quarterback,
Michael Gitto
