Personal Statement
Hello to who ever may be reading this, My name is Sean Mc Cormack and I am a WR/DB from New York City in the graduating class of 2020. Football has always been my passion ever since I was a young kid in the park playing two-hand touch. Playing football at the highest level was always a dream of mine ever since those park days and I was finally ready to start playing for a team when I turned ten years old. except, I wasn't ready. That year I was diagnosed with stage four Burkitts lymphoma, a form of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma in which your own cells turn against you. I needed care as soon as possible or else things would have taken a turn for the worst. hours felt like days, and days felt like years in the hospital but I knew I had to stay strong because thats what football players do. They fight. They fight for everything they earn. And they have to keep fighting because theres always going to be someone or something trying to hold you back but you just keep fighting because its what you love to do. I fought for three years just to get my life back just so I could get back on the field and play the sport I love. And I won. But the fights not over, I play football for the kids who will never get a chance to play due to cancer, And I play for my mom, my dad, and my brother for helping me get through the darkest part of my life. Without them I wouldn't be here today.
If I ever got the question, What makes you a good candidate for our team? I would tell you "Because im a fighter".
