Personal Statement
Being a 1st generation American, and hearing about what my immigrant parents did to make a name for themselves is what shaped me into the young man that will be a difference-maker in your program. My parents are the biggest influence in my life. They have ingrained into me to be a person of respect, honesty, integrity, and work ethic. I remember falling in love with the sport of football, as early as a five-year-old watching football with my dad. I learned a lot playing football for the past six years, but nothing has taught me more than my eight grade season. During this season there were only fourteen kids on our roster; in some games, we had to finish with only ten kids. Nearly making the playoffs with such a limited roster taught me the value of teamwork, sacrifice, leadership, and commitment. More importantly, it developed the mental toughness in me that I know your program could use especially at the running back position.
Both of my parents have only graduated from high school. Their hopes for their children are for them to make it further than they did. That is why I am looking for a program that has a culture of winning and will further me both athletically and academically. I am someone who will understand my role and put the team first. I believe I have not only the talent, but the character, work ethic, and leadership skills to positively impact your program.
