Personal Statement
I am in the graduating class of 2022 at Mountain Heritage High School. As a running back, outside linebacker, safety, and snapper for MHHS, I also run track and do wrestling to improve my overall abilities.
Football has been a big part of my life. I began playing in youth league at the age of 5 and gained a solid foundation on the fundamentals of the game. As I progressed into middle and high school ball I have learned to read the ball and make big plays for my team and assist teammates in theirs.
Self discovery has been at the root of my challenges with sports as well as the goals I set for myself. A hurdle presented itself a the age of 12 when I was diagnosed with Type One Diabetes and I began to learn what perseverance meant. My perspective changed. I worked harder, I dug deeper, I reached further. The disease became less because I wanted to be more. More to my team, more to football, and more to my future.
I was the new guy five times as my family moved, eventually out of my home state. My tenacity to excel became stronger as I worked to prove myself to each team I joined.
Theses challenges gave me discipline to play football in a new way, to work toward the greater reward, team before self. I found that I had more to give as I learned through my challenges.
As a junior, out team made it to the state playoffs. I won defensive player of the game and honored to have the opportunity. I look forward to making it again this year as a senior and continuing to play and be an asset to a college team after high school.
